YMCA of Orange County Selects Jeff
McBride
as New President and CEO
Tustin, Calif. – September 30, 2007 – The YMCA
of Orange County has selected Jeff McBride as the organization’s
new President and CEO. McBride brings 21 years of experience
with the YMCA to the position, most recently serving as Group
Executive Director in Fort Bend County, Texas, where he managed
3 full-facility branches. He also served as Senior
Program Director, Physical/Program Director and Coordinator
for the Downtown YMCA in Dallas. He has been a Vice
Chair of the YMCA Strategic Plan Board Development Committee
and Chair of the YMCA Major Facilities Conference Committee. He
is a graduate of the YMCA Executive Development program and
a member of the Association of YMCA Professionals.
As YMCA of Orange County President and CEO, McBride will
oversee a $30-million association comprised of four full-facility
branches and four community branches. McBride stated “I
am excited about having a positive impact on the lives of
the kids, families and communities in Orange County. I
look forward to working with the dedicated volunteers and
staff that are committed to the YMCA’s mission of building
strong kids, strong families and strong communities and I
am honored to be a part of this strong an growing organization.” His
responsibilities will include providing visionary leadership
to the YMCA staff members and volunteers; building a culture
focused on the mission of the YMCA and energized to achieve
its objectives; developing and maintaining relationships
with key benefactors to build membership and develop a diverse
base for fundraising programs; developing, recruiting and
retaining strong leadership teams at the association and
the branches; community, board and partner development at
the association and branch levels; increasing community awareness
and support of the YMCA mission and services; business management
and development including implementation of the association’s
existing strategic plan and development of future strategic
and operating plans; and assuring that the association operates
on a financially sound basis.
In Texas, McBride was a member, teaching leader and church
council member at Grace United Methodist Church and a member
of the local Rotary and the Board of Directors of the Katy
Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Katy Independent
School District on the Leadership Council, the Partners in
Education group, and the $288,000,000 Bond Committee.
McBride received a Bachelor’s Degree in Rhetoric from
the University of California Berkeley and a Master’s
Degree in Theology from the Dallas Theological Seminary. He
is a graduate of the Rice University Executive Education “Leading
and Managing High Performance Teams” program and the
Lee Hecht Harrison “Strategic Directions Class.”
