Where are the camps located?

DETAILED CAMP INFORMATION

What are the activities of Camp?

Camp Oakes
Horseback riding, target sports, high & low ropes, mountain biking, lake, an observatory activities, and more.

Where do YMCA campers sleep?

Camp Oakes
T he YMCA campers sleep in cabins/3-wall Adirondack cabins with the YMCA counselors. The cabins accommodate 12 people.

How many times do YMCA campers eat?
3 times per day.

What type of food is provided?
A variety of food is provided, all meals include healthy and nutritious selections.

What is the ratio of camper and counselor?
6-8 years 1:6
9-14 years 1:8
15-17 years 1:10

Can I communicate with my child at camp?
Parents are discouraged from calling their children via camp number or cell phone, unless it is an emergency. However, parents are encouraged to send their children letters and care packages while at camp. (Food and candy is not recommended)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Can I get a refund?
After payment is made for camp registration, no refunds are given.

How are YMCA counselors screened?
YMCA counselors are interviewed; drug screened, fingerprinted, and then provided more than 16 hours of formal training.


What training do the YMCA counselors receive?
All YMCA counselors have CPR and 1st Aid certification.

What if there is a fire?
The Camp manager, the YMCA, and the forest service follow very strict emergency procedures during the event of forest firers. Parents are notified of the situation and status of camp as soon as a crisis permits.
