The YMCA Community Services in Tustin initiated a new program on
June
1, 2001: the Childcare Health Consultation Program. This is a new resource
available to ensure Orange County’s children enter school healthy,
developmentally on target and ready to learn. The YMCA Childcare Health
Consultation Program team consists of a Public Health Nurse, two Health
Educators, two Behavioral Health Specialists, and one Program Assistant.
They will provide consultations on health, safety and behavior, resources,
trainings, and referral services to childcare providers of children ages
0-5 years for all of Orange County.
Childcare providers and parents can call the toll-free number
to speak to a childcare health consultant. Examples of the services
that can be accessed by childcare providers include requests for
on-site consultations to evaluate health and safety standards,
child behavioral heath observations, and staff training requests
on topics such as proper hand washing, food preparation, and management
of child health issues. This service will be provided through telephone
and on-site consultations, trainings and community linkages. The
consultation team is available from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through
Friday and can be reached toll-free at (866) 242-9622.
The YMCA Childcare Health Consultation Program is free of charge. |
