Bikes for Kids

The following are quotes from children in the Oak View Community who received bicycles as part of the West County Family YMCA “Bikes for Kids” Program. 

Vanessa , age 9
“I’m happy because now I get to go to the park with my sisters and have fun.  We all ride our bikes together”

Alonso , age 12
“I appreciate finally getting a bike. Up until now I’ve never had a bike and now I’m able to get to school faster and have fun”

Many thanks go to all those families who donated their gently used bicycles to help less fortunate children.  Special thanks to Board Member Roy Gerber, for organizing the project, and to OSH Hardware and Tom DeGuelle, for their generous donation of bike locks, and finally to the Knights of Pythias for donating new helmets for all the children.
