Camp Oakes Summer Camp Testimonial & Update
9 year old Alex attended Camp Oakes this summer, with
a little help from the YMCA. The following is his note of thanks
to the YMCA!
“Thank you for sending me to camp. I had
lots of fun! We went horseback riding, rifelry, archery, canoeing,
swimming, and I just had a really fun time. My counselors were
really nice. We got to have pillow fights! Love, Alex”.
Oak View Community Center Update
Programs at Oak View Community Center continue to grow! A
new Jiu Jitsu program started this summer! Volunteers from
No Limits Mixed Martial Arts and Fitness are leading instruction
in conditioning and martial arts. The youth at the Oak View
Center absolutely love the program. Between 30 and 100 children
attend the weekly sessions. This program gives these children,
who need it most, an additional opportunity to get their bodies moving,
and get fit! The staff at the Community Center is doing a wonderful
job. Maribel Zuniga, Jesse Maldonado, Jose Maldonado and Eric
Alafa are the fantastic staff members serving these youth.. They
have implemented Homework Help, so the children have an additional
resource to help them be successful in school. Volleyball and
Soccer continue to be the most popular sports activities. If
you would like additional information on the soccer program, please
