A Note From Our Executive Director

This holiday season, I would like to take a moment and thank all those who have made a profound impact on the children and families of our community: our dedicated YCS volunteers.  Through our programs and services, we brought hope and opportunity to thousands of children and adults in need in 2007. Because of the continued commitment of our volunteers – board members, tutors, mentors, foster-care FunDay volunteers, New Horizons volunteers, Reach Out Awards committee members – we are able to brighten the lives of more and more individuals each year.  Thank You!

As we look toward 2008, I am thrilled at the progress we are making in our community collaborative efforts.  First, as we enter the Pilot year of the Orange County Christian Mentoring Alliance (OCCMA), I see amazing synergy in our partnership, with a shared vision of matching hundreds of mentors with children at risk through Orange County churches.  For more information, please visit www.icarementoring.org. 

Second, I look forward to improved efforts to combating the childhood obesity epidemic in our county through the collaborative efforts of OC in Motion, a county-wide partnership aimed at increasing physical activity and nutrition in our children.  I will be updating you all on our progress throughout 2008!
