Many moons ago, the proud Shawnees lived very happily

Their corn grew fast and tall

The fish were plentiful in the streams

And the weather was always perfect for singing and dancing

But every day, the Great Spirit of the Clouds looked down upon the happy Indian tribes singing and dancing and became more and more lonely L

Day after day passed and the Great Spirit of the Clouds had nobody to sing with and nobody to dance with. Her loneliness became so bad, that she became angry. And don’t mean angry like I tell my sister "cut it out you snotty littly brat", I mean really, really angry. So she decided to do something about it…

She rained and rained, day after day, week after week and through the months.

The corn that had grown so high fell over and died.

The streams flooded, killing all the fish

And the singing and dancing of the Shawnee tribed was not heard again for many moons

Well the leaders of the tribe had no idea how to stop the rain, but it was the brave princesses that came up with a solution.

They figured out that the Great Spirit of the Clouds was lonely. So the princesses huddled together and rewrote their song to include the Great Spirit into what they called a "rain dance"

Sing your tribe song

The Great Spirit of the Clouds was no longer sad or lonely. She became so happy that the rain suddenly stopped, the sky shinned bright, the corn grew back, and the fish returned to the streams forever

And the Great Spirit of the Clouds and the Indians lived in harmony by singing to each other for years to come, creating what was to be called, the "Rain Dance".
