“She started a great service learning project where we stuff Stockings for the Troops. It started as a site service learning project and now it is a huge YMCA Branch & Association Service Learning Project. For years she has helped coordinate with Comfort, Hope, and Promise to help the kids learn about the Troops and send them cards and stockings to relay that we appreciate and remember them during the holidays. Jasmina has been to monthly Y PAC meetings for years and is a true example of leadership, service, and volunteerism. She inspires other parents to volunteer as well as her own daughter. She is very involved in Campaign, Service Learning Projects, and Y events. Her support, ideas, and experience have really benefited Peterson Y as well as the branch. She has started, continued, and shared many traditions we have at the sites through the YMCA of Orange County. I am so grateful for all her support, time, and commitment to the Y. She has taught me a lot about Campaign, Service Learning Projects, Fundraising, Leadership, and Campaign. Her daughter is following in her footsteps and trying to be the President of the kids Leader in Training Club. Jasmina Muller has made a huge impact in the Orange County YMCA. We really appreciate her! Thank you so much, Jasmina!”

“Have you ever heard the saying ‘if you need a volunteer, ask the busiest person you know’ because they’ll find the time? Jasmina Muller is the epitome of that saying. She is one of the busiest, most dedicated, and hardest working women I know. I have had the privilege of working closely with Jasmina for the past six, going on seven, years. I have gotten to see first-hand the positive impact she has had not only on her own two children, but on the many children who passed through the Peterson YMCA doors over the years. Jasmina has been a vital part of Peterson YMCA’s success through her work as PAC President. She helped develop a new standard for each child’s personal development and social responsibility. She achieved this by creating and implementing Stockings for the Troops Service Learning Project and assisting me with creating a homework club where the children can strive for better academic success, to name a few. Peterson YMCA is lucky to have such a great volunteer in Jasmina!”

“I have been volunteering for the YMCA since 2005 starting with Youth Sports when my son started playing soccer. I was asked to see if I could raise donations from the community for the sports program through campaign. I thought why not and only got $200, but it felt great to see that money go to a program for at least 1 child to play a sport that would not have been able to. I then got more involved and was part of the PAC at Peterson Y by being a member. I have been with the PAC for 9 years and for 8 of those I was President and provided insight and ideas on what we could do for our kids at the afterschool care and, most importantly, what the kids can do for our communities.
With all that we have done, the most successful service learning project to date is the ‘Stockings for the Troops.’ The kids love this project and it has now become a tradition. In fact, the kids actually have taken over and do their due diligence as the new ‘kids in charge of their community’ (KICC). To see how far we have come as a team at Peterson really shows how much we do for our kids. The fact that I can see my own kids wanting to be a part of volunteering and consistently asking to do their part-that is what makes me proud of being a volunteer!”
