What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) allow you to easily and
quickly access news and announcements from the YMCA of Orange
County web site.
How do you use it? (Subscribing to RSS Feeds)
Most modern web browsers like Internet Explorer 7, Firefox,
and Safari have RSS readers built in so you can read a collection
of news feeds from our web site on one page. (Click
here for instructions) Pages with embedded RSS content
will have an orange or blue icon in the address bar of the
browser.
You can also use web based readers like Google Reader or
desktop applications that are available for free download
on the web.
All you need to do is choose a method of reading your feeds
and copy/paste the URLs below to your reader.
Additional Information:
Internet Explorer 7: IE 7 automatically detects
RSS feeds on sites and illuminates an icon on the toolbar.
A single click on the icon allows you to preview and subscribe
to the RSS feed if you want—so you’re automatically
notified as content is updated. Read RSS feeds directly in
the browser, scan for important stories, and filter your
view with search terms or site-specific categories.
Firefox: When Firefox discovers a feed
associated with the web page you are visiting, an orange
icon automatically appears in the location bar. To review
and subscribe to the web site's feed, click the orange icon.
A list of all available feeds from the web site is displayed.
Safari: If Safari can find the RSS feed
for the site you're viewing, an RSS button appears in the
address bar. Click it to view that feed. To return to the
website, click the button again.
