PAC’s powerful impact
Stephanie’s Story: I am nominating Tiffany Biron. I meet Tiffany and her daughter, Mariella, my very first summer at the YMCA. Mariella was an incoming kindergartener. I have had the privilege since then watching Mariella grow and getting to know Tiffany more. Tiffany has graciously taken on the roll of heading my PAC team and helping me with anything I need! She is always willing to help in any way she can even if she is not able to attend an event. I am thankful to have her apart of my first PAC experience as a Director at Castille YMCA. Thank you Tiffany!
Tiffany’s Story: Overall the YMCA is an outstanding program, based off their involvement with each child, how they understand the importance of homework/healthy mind time, and yet include a great balance of having fun! My daughter has been going to the YMCA Castille location for 3 years now, she started the summer before heading into kindergarten and of course, I thought how could I leave my “baby” all day doing all this “big kid” stuff (field trips, older kids, etc.) Within the first couple days she was so excited every morning to get up and go to the YMCA, which as a parent we know is a huge relief and lets you know they must be doing their job if they received the “kid” approval.
Once I started volunteering with the Castille branch and joining their PAC team, I realized even more the impact the YMCA had on our family, each staff member brings so many unique qualities to teach and pass on to the children. Over the past few years we have created such an amazing bond with all the staff at the branch. As we started volunteering at the branch my daughter and I are able to be involved in so many community outreach programs, that we love doing and now even consider some of them a as tradition and look forward to knowing at certain times of the year we will be helping out for some great causes.
The YMCA isn’t just an after-school or summer program, they do a wonderful job with continued learning, showing the children how to respect one another, help them build character in themselves, to be helpful and active in supporting others at school, the YMCA, and in the community. The children are truly getting to experience and learn so many things; different activity clubs, (sports, art, cooking, gardening, science) it really opens up and allows each child to participate in something they love or to explore and discover a new passion.
The best part about it is still to this day, my daughter is excited to always be dropped off at the YMCA, knowing they have some kind of adventure planned.
