CARES PROGRAM

Elevating the C in the YMCA

At the YMCA of Orange County our mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. The CARES program provides families and individuals the opportunities to experience and know Christ through community-based programs, activities and partnerships with churches and Christian organizations.

Our CARES Chaplain from the Newport-Mesa Y, Ian Stevenson, was recently featured on Spectrum News for the selfless work he is doing to support our local communities.

Our Program At A Glance

The YMCA was birthed on June 6, 1844 when a 22-year-old George Williams gathered twelve men and started a Bible study in London, England. Williams was deeply concerned about the physical and spiritual well-being of young men who were flocking to London from their rural homes to seek employment in the ever expanding industrialization of the day. As a result, the YMCA reached many young men for Jesus Christ.
Now, almost 175 years later the YMCA of Orange County is striving to continue the legacy established by George Williams.

Our Mission

The YMCA longs to be more than just a place to work out, but as a place which dramatically impacts the people it touches. We strive to fulfill our purpose by walking hand-in-hand each day to make a lasting difference in our communities and in the lives of the people we serve.
