LA84 Foundation Funds Sports Programs
for At-Risk Youth in Santa Ana
Thank you to the LA84 Foundation for generously supporting the Santa Ana Family YMCA’s youth soccer and swim programs. The LA84 Foundation funds youth sports in Southern California, trains coaches, and examines the role of sport in society. The foundation is the legacy of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games and it’s support will help more than 2500 youth from Santa Ana and the surrounding areas build skills, learn teamwork, and focus on sportsmanship—preparing them for key milestones on their developmental journey.
More than 50% of the participants in programs at the Santa Ana branch are low-income and come from an underserved community. The Santa Ana Y offers safe open space and recreational activities for these individuals who would not otherwise be able to afford these opportunities. It is one of the only sports and recreation centers in the community that offers financial assistance in all of its programs to low, very low, and extremely low-income families and individuals, fulfilling our mission to “build spirit, mind, and body for all” regardless of ability to pay.
If you would like to help support our mission, now is the time. The YMCA is a non-profit organization and Volunteers and Staff from the San Gabriel Valley to Orange and Riverside Counties are currently participating in our Annual Campaign initiative to raise money for those in our communities who need assistance to afford the same opportunities that many youth get everyday. Donate now or become a Campaigner for the Y and help us encourage others to make a difference.
