30th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
Laguna Niguel Family YMCA Celebrates 30 Years of Service to the Community
On March 16, 1986 the Laguna Niguel Family YMCA opened its doors to the health and wellness center within Crown Valley Community Park. The new facility featured a gymnasium, group exercise classes, fitness equipment, community programs, and more. The grand opening was led by Melvin Edwards (YMCA Board Chair), Art Wandland (YMCA Executive Director), and Bob Orozco (Physical Education Director). Take a look at this blast from the past video from 1986.
The Laguna Niguel Family YMCA now serves over 10,000 people a year though all of its programs. Some of the largest participation is in Adventure Guides (a father-child program), Afterschool Childcare, and fitness programs for all ages. Additionally, the YMCA provides many vital community services and outreach programs like CPR classes, youth obesity prevention programs, and inclusion services for special needs youth. The Laguna Niguel Family YMCA provides over $400,000 in financial assistance and subsidy each year to the community and The Y is also one of the largest employers and volunteer organizations in the community.
During the week of April 25th the Laguna Niguel YMCA will be holding a week-long birthday party for members and the community which will include member appreciation gifts, birthday cake cutting, piñatas for children, and more. The YMCA will also be dedicating the Group Exercise Studio to Bob Orozco during this celebration week. In addition, the YMCA will be offering a special 1 week only no enrollment fee promotion for new members (a savings of up to $90) to say thank you for letting us be a part of the community for all these years.
