On The Non-Profit Campaign Trail
YMCA of Orange County Campaigners
Leading By Example
It’s week 3 of the YMCA of Orange County’s Annual Campaign fundraising initiative, supporting youth and family programming in Orange and Riverside Counties, as well as the San Gabriel Valley. Last year over 1 million dollars was contributed to fund scholarships for local children, providing them the opportunities that they otherwise would not have been able to afford.
The fundraising effort was made possible by hundreds of campaigners who took on the challenge and helped the YMCA of Orange County reach and surpass its goal. This year, the stakes have been raised and the challenge starts all over for past and new participants. Among the hundreds of campaigners are a select group honored as extraordinary individuals within the YMCA community and their actions are a testament to their dedication and determination.
Trudy Reinhartsen was one of 12 Distinguished Service Award winners at this year’s Annual Campaign launch event in Anaheim. As a mother, Trudy raised her daughters through community programs like Mommy and Me, Swimming, and Gymnastics. Now a grandmother, Trudy has become involved with her granddaughter’s before and afterschool program at the Canyon Vista YMCA in Aliso Viejo.
“The last four summers I have relished my time being involved as an active volunteer for the YMCA summer field trips. Spending time with my granddaughters, other students, and faculty has been a very rewarding experience. Watching the growth and the joy the children find as a result of the YMCA programs have also been special for me.” – Trudy R.
Trudy and other inspirational people like her are currently leading the charge in the YMCA’s mission to help young people achieve their potential, empower people of all ages to lead healthier lives, and strengthen the bonds of community in Orange County. Child care Assistant Director, Kaitlin Eckert had this to say:
“Trudy embodies our vision of fostering youth and family development by being an active member with her grandchildren and building strong relationships with staff.” – Kaitlin E.
