Read about our Service Learning Projects

Our Service Learning Projects help the kids learn about helping others.  This school year we have participated in Childhood Obesity Awareness Month (September), Anti-Bullying Month (October), we created ornaments for a local communities’ Angel Tree as well as collected donations for Stockings for the Troops (November) and in December we collected new and used clothing for a local halfway house/ homeless shelter called Kathy’s House.

I have worked for the YMCA of Orange County for 12 Years. I started volunteering for the YMCA as a counselor with their Resident Camp and eventually took the position of assistant teacher at one of the YCMA locations. I worked at various schools, increasing my position over the years. I took a few years off and moved to New York City, which was a rewarding and eye opening experience. I came back to California to start a family and return to my roots. I have grown up through the Y and am grateful for the opportunity to assist with the development of others.

I love hiking, skiing, bungee jumping and skydiving, What I love most is hanging out with my daughter and wife, and occasionally going to Disneyland.

“As a working single mother, I rely on the after-school Y program to help me raise my daughter and I couldn’t be happier. She gets to do crafts and play games, things that I wish I had more time to do with her. She learns new things, including good values and life lessons. Best of all, she loves it!”
