Hello!  My name is Carrissa Daino and I have worked with the YMCA for five years.  I have my bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from California State University, Fullerton.  Working for the YMCA has been such a fun experience and I truly enjoy learning and growing with the families we serve.  Every day is a unique opportunity to help children reach their full potential and learn all about our core values.  I love spending time getting to know each and every child in my program and encouraging them to feel empowered in their education and social relationships.

“As a single parent with very little family in the area, having a safe place for my child to be while I’m working is very important to me. I believe the YMCA has the best childcare program available, though I would not be able to afford it without financial assistance. I am very, very grateful to get the helpful need to continue to participate in this wonderful program.”

“I recently separated from my son’s father so I decided to transfer from my job and start fresh. I’m a single mother of 3, so I felt so blessed when YMCA Director Melissa told me that I qualify for financial assistance. I’m so thankful for Melissa and the YMCA staff that have made this chapter in our lives possible and worry free. Without the YMCA I would have literally had to quit my job to be able to take care of my kids and just lived off child support. On behalf of my family and myself I want to say thank you so much for everything the YMCA does for us and every other family. My children and I will be paying it forward to help other families like us.”

“I had always been a stay at home mom but a few years ago a part-time job came along in my field and the city I live in. I was so excited but concerned who would watch my child after school and would be working just to pay for daycare. Then I found out the YMCA had a scholarship that can help with the cost of daycare. I applied and found I was qualified for a scholarship, which has helped me work comfortably and feel secure that my child is in good hands. I even get a gym membership at the YMCA for a discounted rate. Thanks YMCA for all you do!
