C.A.R.E.S Backpack Drive: in collaboration with CARES, we collect new backpacks and school supplies to help kids start the school year off right. CARES is a YMCA program offering Christian Assistance Resources Education & Services to staff, members and communities.

Essentials Drive: collect essential items for homeless infants and toddlers, and help raise awareness to support homeless families.

Stocking for the Troops: The YMCA of Orange partners with Words of Comfort, Hope and Promise, Cub Scout Pack 290 and Starbucks stores in the area to collect as many donations as possible to send to our troops oversea for the Christmas season.

Read about the Director, Emily Perez

Hi! My name is Emily Perez. I started working at Smith YMCA in 2012 and in February 2014 I was given the opportunity to work at Perry YMCA as their Site Lead. Now I am here at Hawes YMCA. I started working with children when I was a sophomore in high school, and ever since I always find myself working with children so I pursue my studies in Child Development. Through the course of my college career I was able to find out for myself that working with children is very rewarding! I feel blessed to see children learn, grow, explore, and experience new things. I am fortunate enough to witness those growths with the children at the YMCA on a daily basis.

The children and staff at Hawes YMCA know me as a bubbly and energetic person. They know that I love Disneyland and I love to dress up especially when we have dress-up days. I love to cook and dance and do outdoor activities in my spare time. I enjoy good company, good music, good food, and a nice ambiance.

Read Parent's Testimonies

“In the summer of 2010, I was faced with every parent’s greatest fear…letting go of my baby for the first time. My son would be starting Kindergarten in the fall and I was terrified. Terrified that he would be scared, terrified that he would be unprepared and terrified that he wouldn’t know anyone in his new school. I turned to the Y Summer Camp for help. My 5 year-old enrolled in camp as a very shy boy who would never join in activities and didn’t relate well to other children. By the time camp ended in September, the Y leaders had helped my little wallflower completely blossom. All of a sudden he was joining in every game, project and discussion and had become a leader in a large circle of friends. It was as if they knew exactly what he needed, and encouraged him to grow into his potential. The Y showed me that there was a safe place – besides in my arms – where my child could learn, enjoy and grow. We have been devotees of the Y after-school and summer programs ever since and my son feels like the Y is just an extension of home. I will forever be grateful to the Y for preparing both of us for Kindergarten and the road ahead. – Stephanie, Hawes YMCA Parent

“My daughter Lacy has been going to the Hawes YMCA now for two years and we couldn’t be happier. As a working mother I need a safe and enjoyable place for my daughter to be after school. The staff there are great, they love what they do and it makes me happy to have my daughter in such a great environment. There is a lot of parent involvement, and communication is abundant. All key things in running a great site. We will stay as long as we can at Hawes YMCA!” – Allison, Hawes YMCA Parent
