C.A.R.E.S. Backpack Drive: In collaboration with C.A.R.E.S., we collect new backpacks and school supplies to help kids start the school year off right. C.A.R.E.S. is a YMCA program offering Christian Assistance Resources Education & Services to staff, members and communities.

Essentials Drive: collect essential items for homeless infants and toddlers, and help raise awareness to support homeless families.

Coastkeepers Beach Cleanup: in partnership with Orange County Coastkeepers, this service learning project includes educational activities and field excursions where kids will have the opportunity to learn about their local watershed, receive resources to take positive actions for their environment, learn about ocean pollution and make a difference themselves by conducting a beach clean-up.

Stocking for the Troops: The YMCA of Orange County partners with Words of Comfort to collect as many donations as possible to send to our troops oversea for the Christmas season.

Other Service Learning Projects: Jacket January, Spread the Love February, Family Cookie Exchange

Read about the Director, Marissa Bellon

Hi. My name is Marissa. I have been with the YMCA since 2005. I started as a KPlus teacher and worked my way up to the Director. I graduated from Mission Viejo High School and attended Saddleback College.

My job is my passion. I truly enjoy every moment. Being able to watch the kids grow, brings such joy and a worth while in what I do. To be able to help guide them in all aspects of life, whether it is completing their homework, building gardens or working on respecting others and themselves. In this position I am able to work closely with the school and community. It is great to be able to manage my staff and watch them work with the children as well.

On my own time I love to go to the beach, Disneyland and travel with my daughter.

“The Y program at Hidden Hills is great! Under the leadership of Marissa Bellon the Y is an integral part of our school community. The enrichment activities that they provide are high quality. It is really nice to have them on our campus.”
-Hidden Hills Elementary School Principal

“My son began at the Y the summer before Kindergarten. The staff and kids at the Y we’re great, he had many friends before he even started school. The older kids helped him feel comfortable and he always has friends. Anywhere we turn. His younger brother can’t wait to start school especially at the Y because they have always taken the time to say hello, and made him feel welcome. Join the Y if you want your kids to be social and more productive!”

-Patty, Hidden Hills YMCA Parent

“My son Wyatt has been attending the Hidden Hills YMCA program for the last three years, three days a week. The experience has been a positive one in every way possible. Wyatt used to be somewhat shy and reserved, but since attending the Y his character has really blossomed. The leaders and director are all caring people and you can tell that they love what they do! We feel lucky that Wyatt gets to be with such genuine, loving people when he is at the Y. He gets help with his homework, gets to be involved in outside sports and clubs, and he LOVES the Summer program too! When I pick him up I always leave with the feeling that he had fun, was cared for, and most importantly…that he was safe. As a parent, these things are what make us feel blessed to be a part of the YMCA family. A big thank you to Miss Marissa, Miss Laura, Miss Roxanna & Miss Katie for always taking a genuine interest in Wyatts’ well-being. My husband and I could not be more thankful for the job that you do.”
