Hi friends! My name is Mari Alvarado and I have been working for the YMCA since August of 2013. I have a bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and have always had a passion for working with children. I believe by providing proper guidance and mentorship to our youth today, we can help them steer clear of being on the negative end of the justice system. In my free time, I like to barbecue and attend local food festivals. I also like to take road trips along the coast but please, no seafood.

“The YMCA has been wonderful for my child. It gives her somewhere to play and have fun where we know she is safe. The staff at Ladera Ranch YMCA is welcoming and caring. We couldn’t be happier with the program!” – Ladera Ranch YMCA Parent

“The Ladera Ranch Y team is amazing. My daughter loves it there and I love the team. My daughter has learned so much from when she started at the Y in the kindergarten program back in 2012 (which I highly recommend). The director and the entire staff are very genuine, friendly and always have a smile to offer. I highly recommend this facility.”

“Our overall family experience at the Y at LRES has been fantastic. Brett Brady is always open to feedback and very engaged and responsive and we are very thankful for that. Ms. Christina and Mr. Ian are consistent and positive and we are thankful for them also. We also LOVE all the extra activities the Y provides as well The Y has become a formative part of our boys development.”

“This is my 3rd child to go through the YMCA program. The staff are great with both the children and the parents. I always feel welcome when I am greeted in the afternoon when I pick up my child. The K-Plus program is excellent, my child loves the different clubs where he can learn everything from cooking to Spanish. I take every opportunity I can to tell anyone who is seeking care for their children about the YMCA and what they have done from me and my family.”

Ladera Ranch YMCA Parent

“Everyone at the YMCA is super friendly, super positive, and my son looks forward to going to the YMCA after school care. He loves the summer camp as well. When I pick him up everyday, he has a smile on his face, and as a parent, that justifies to me that he has a great time here.”

Ladera Ranch YMCA Parent

“Our family moved from Madison, WI in June of 2013. One of our(parents) concerns was moving in the summer and our children not knowing any kids one the first day of school. We struggled to enroll them in the summer program but decided to do it anyway. They both quickly made friends at the YMCA putting our minds at ease. Once school started our youngest son, who has a unique set of needs, struggled. The staff at the Ladera Ranch Elementary school was in constant communication about how to handle his unique needs. A few months in and numerous conversations the staff knows how to handle his needs and problems are very isolated due to his individual needs. The staff went the extra mile for my son and sought to understand his needs. Thank you Brett and your Staff.”

“Being a part of the YMCA growing up was very important to me many years ago. Now I have a kindergartner who is meeting friends, participating in activities such as drama and science, and is outside playing, learning about the importance of living active while sustaining a healthy diet. The YMCA is doing a great job building a solid foundation for my daughter.”
