Read about our Service Learning Projects

C.A.R.E.S Backpack Drive: in collaboration with CARES, we collect new backpacks and school supplies to help kids start the school year off right. CARES is a YMCA program offering Christian Assistance Resources Education & Services to staff, members and communities.

Essentials Drive: collect essential items for homeless infants and toddlers, and help raise awareness to support homeless families.

Coastkeepers Beach Cleanup: in partnership with Orange County Coastkeepers, this service learning project includes educational activities and field excursions where kids will have the opportunity to learn about their local watershed, receive resources to take positive actions for their environment, learn about ocean pollution and make a difference themselves by conducting a beach clean-up.

Stocking for the Troops: The YMCA of Orange partners with Words of Comfort, Hope and Promise, Cub Scout Pack 290 and Starbucks stores in the area to collect as many donations as possible to send to our troops oversea for the Christmas season.

Other Service Learning Projects: School Supply Drive, Jacket January and Spread the Love February.

Read about the Director, Jaime Alls

My name is Jaime Alls and I am the Director at Moffett YMCA. As a young adult my focus in college was on Criminal Justice, in hopes of fulfilling what at that time had been a life-long dream of becoming a Police Officer. I soon came to realize that I had another calling and shifted gears and professions to that of early childhood development. My talent in working with children lies in the ability to make everyone feel like they belong and that they matter, as all children do.  As the Director of the first HB YMCA afterschool site to attain National Accreditation, I have had numerous opportunities to mentor other YMCA Directors throughout Orange County who are also striving to attain the highest standards in childcare. I have worked for the YMCA at Moffett since January of 2000. I began as a Childcare Assistant then worked my way up to a Teacher and I have been the Moffett YMCA Director since 2003. I can honestly say that I love my job and look forward to coming to work each and every day. I am blessed to have amazing staff who, on a daily basis give 100% of themselves. We are a fun-loving, upbeat, caring group of people. Each day we strive to build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities. I know that because of my staff and their ability to use their talents to create quality in all they do, our relationships and memories are more powerful and meaningful.

My hobbies include making people laugh, playing soccer, watching football, loving on my dog, spending time with family, and playing jokes on unassuming family and friends.

My philosophy: I was lucky enough to be raised by parents who instilled early on that honesty, equality, and the truth of your character matter most. I felt loved every day, and saw love every day. I knew that I was important and that I had worth within my family unit. I also was given opportunities to have relationships outside of my parents that made me feel valued as a child, such as, my great grandma, grandparents, aunt and uncle, neighbors, and family friends. Unfortunately, I saw that this was not the case for everyone, and that has always bothered me. So, as I grew into a teen and now as an adult I always want to help children and adults feel like they are important and that their voice matters.

“Moffett YMCA not only provides a safe environment for my children, but provides them the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. My daughter has been attending Moffett YMCA for 6 years and my son for 3 years. The outstanding child care they receive enables me to go to work guilt free knowing my children are in a safe and stimulating environment. Moffett Y is focused on safety, health, social growth and academic enhancement. The staff is friendly and well qualified. The site director Jaime Alls is exceptional and provides guidance and open communication. I’m so indebted to Jaime and her staff for providing me with “PEACE OF MIND” and providing my children with the environment and guidance to believe that they can achieve on the highest level; and just as, if not more importantly, to develop the self-awareness that doing their best, no matter the effort involved, has its own rewards that far exceed taking the easy way out. The Y has and continues to support my family and make a difference in our lives.” – Bobbie Crownfield

“If you want to feel confident you are leaving your child or children in competent, caring, and loving care, the Moffett YMCA is the way to go! The staff members are genuinely concerned about the needs of the children, and I’m always informed if there was a situation, issue, positive act, etc that occurred during the day. As a teacher, I feel I can spot a child friendly, safe, fun, well managed, healthy, and loving environment when I see one… The Moffett YMCA is all of those things and more! It has FAR exceeded my expectations! ” – Moffett YMCA Parent
