Hi, my name is Oana Elias and I have a B.S. degree in Childhood Development from California State University, Fullerton and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Prior to working at the YMCA I ran a preschool for 8 years. I started working at the YMCA in 2016 and have enjoyed getting to know all the amazing families and children at Tijeras Creek! A little about myself…. I am married and we have 3 amazing kids. In my free time I enjoy camping, hiking, watching movies, traveling and spending time with my husband and kids!

“Our children love the staff at Tijeras Creek elementary and always come home with a smile. I find the staff to be very personable and professional and attentive to my children as well as all the other children. Our kids are having such a good time at summer camp that they want to go in even when they don’t have to.”

“Tijeras Creek YMCA is the best! Miss Mia and the staff there are so wonderful. The kids have fun, play games, get homework help, and do a lot of great projects. It is so convenient because it is right on the school campus. I never worry when my son is there because I know he is safe and well cared for. My son loves this program!”

“My son Anthony has been coming to the YMCA for a year now, and he looks forward to coming to the Y every day. Every day at the end of the day I ask him what was the best part of his day, and it is always something he did at the YMCA. Your program keeps the children organized, helps develop social skills, and they have a lot of fun. All the exciting trips in the summer are going to be memories to cherish forever!! Knowing my son is at the YMCA with a caring staff makes it so much easier for me to leave him for a full day to go to work. All your efforts to make each day special for every child that attends the YMCA is much appreciated. A heartfelt thank you to all of you for being like an extended family for our children.”

“Having had zero experience with the YMCA summer program, my wife and I decided to give it a try this year for our son Logan. We ended up starting a week late due to being on vacation, but I can honestly say, all three of us are impressed. From a parents perspective, the counselor’s are attentive, engaged and professional. Additionally there is a really good ratio of counselor’s to students and as a result, there is quite a bit of one on one time. The weekly schedule of activities is amazing, from game day to water day, to Friday field trips. There seems like there is always something to do. Our experience last year was with a different summer program and Logan would come home and say that he was bored. That is definitely not the case with the Y. He comes home and tells us all about what he did that day and is genuinely excited about going back the following day. Mia makes things easy by sending out weekly schedules and reminders so we don’t forget what to bring on the various play days. I would very highly recommend the Y to anyone seeking a balanced, fun and educational summer program for their child.”
